tried to search..... but probably my non German or Dutch... etc. made it not work.
Anyone come up with a good generic exterior door lock system. Here in USA our trucks with the 12m18 cabs notoriously break the paddle on the exterior door open latch. Mine just broke for second time in few years. Here they want ridiculous out lay of cash for new door handles purchased and shipped from Steyr. Would think you folk would have the same breakage problems too.
Have you folk found a better door lock set up to replace with?
the one pictured on the Acella is what the US military switched to around year 2000? We've not found exact source yet and the military surplus guys think they are gold gold
On the Acela Monterra trucks they seem to use a different type sometimes....
Maybe you can find out what brand they use?...
they are OEM US military starting around year 2000. Have not found their source yet. They exist in surplus but again are sold for price of gold.
Search words are: türgriff, türschloss or türöffner
appears the search engine does not translate ...... so it won't find english. I'll try these search words you suggest in original form. Had already tried them in in english.
came here previously looking to what solutions you folk may have found out..... at that time it was mentioned to me some of you were looking forward to hearing what solutions we came up with as well.
below is two handles that US civilians are starting to use on US military's Steyr cab to replace the earlier ones that break easy. First one below appears to be same one the US builder started putting on the military cabs.
another just reported much success with a toyota 4 runner 90-95 era door handle. Has very similar look to OEM as well. Just minor amount of door skin cutting and door bracket modifications to make it work butttt..... they used rear door handles with no locks cause they intend to add aftermarket electric locks anyway. Thus there was no attempt to set up rods that attach to lock portion of the handle.
